St. Buryan West Cornwall abounds with a rich selection of traditional country villages and hamlets. They are, quite simply, part of what makes this part of the world so special.Set among rolling farmland, and with a truly gracious 15th century church which can be seen for miles around, the delightful village of St Buryan can be found about three miles inland from Porthcurno. Sheffield, another very old secluded village, is close by, and both villages are near to several stunning ancient monuments. The famous Merry Maidens stone circle and The Pipers standing stones, for example, and there are ancient Christian crosses all around the neighbouring area. And a few miles to the north of St Buryan lies the Carn Euny Prehistoric Village, an ancient settlement dating back to the Iron Age and which was active during in Roman times. |
