Terms and Conditions
Reference to “the Hirer" means the person or persons accepted by the Owner as authorised to occupy the Property for the period specified on the Booking Form.
Your application must be made on our booking form and completed in full by the Hirer. Once the booking form is accepted by us, you are responsible for full payment when due. In the event of St. Ives Cottages having to cancel a booking a full refund will be made.
A deposit of 25% (or a minimum as stated when booking) per week is required with booking (Non refundable upon cancellation) A booking is confirmed only when a deposit is received. (We will send a reminder of the due date to the email address provided at the time of booking ) If the booking is made eight weeks or less before the arrival date then the full rental is payable on booking. We post our prices in October of the previous year - a booking received before this date may be reviewed and altered and notification made.
If a damage deposit is charged (see each cottage details) this will be held by us and will be returned to card in full within 21 days after departure, provided no loss or damage has been incurred and the property is left in a clean and tidy condition. We reserve the right to withhold part or all of the deposit towards extra cleaning costs, where a property has not been left in good condition. Premises are checked by our agents and any damage to the equipment or the property is fully chargeable to the tenant. The liability is not limited to the deposit.
A fee of £30.00 is chargeable for moving a booking or cancellation. If due to any occurrence beyond the control of the owner and his agent the accommodation is not available as booked, eg fire, flood, all monies paid will be refunded in full but neither will be under any further liability towards the hirer. In the event of a cancellation being received in writing before the commencement of the holiday, we will endeavour to re-let the property for the period concerned, and if such re-letting proves possible, we shall, at our sole discretion, refund the balance of money paid less the deposit as stated above. If the property is not re-let for any reason, the original lessee is liable for the whole of the rental amount. It is advisable to take out holiday insurance to cover the possibility of cancellation.
If you have any cause for dissatisfaction PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY on arrival by telephoning our office on 0800 328 8051. It is imperative that we see the reason for the complaint before any remedial action is taken. We regret we cannot consider any complaints where we have not been given an opportunity to investigate the complaint and endeavour to put matters right during the hire period, or any complaints made after the hirer has vacated the property or returned home.
Please be aware that coastal weather conditions may affect TV reception. Cottages in St. Ives may suffer from damp problems in poor weather and winter time due to age, construction and weather conditions. This is impossible to resolve or control and if this is a concern you should not rent in St. Ives.
The owners of the properties do not accept any liability for any accident, damage, loss, injury, or expense, whether to persons or to property, which the tenants or any other persons may suffer or incur arising out of, or in any way connected with, the letting.

Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.
We accept credit card payment. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.
We accept Visa and Mastercard. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. You may send your credit card information via phone, fax, snail mail or over the Internet.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. Owners Direct and Action Fraud say following these simple tips will help you stay safe when renting a holiday home online:
- Ensure that you speak on the phone (not just by email) with the person renting the cottage. Any legitimate individual letting a property will provide their direct phone number on the site — if they do not, exercise caution.
- Never pay directly into a bank account until you verify that the owner is legitimate. Paying by direct bank transfer is like paying by cash — the money can’t be traced and is not refundable.
- Where possible, pay by credit card or a debit card that offers insurance — they are traceable and refundable, according to the provider’s terms and conditions.
- Check reviews on properties you are interested in to see what previous guests had to say about their experience.
- Ask for a rental agreement — a signed rental agreement between the owner and the guest helps protect both parties. Typically, each owner or manager has their own payment and cancellation policies and house rules.
